LEARNING PRODUCTIONS
Welcome to my productions page, where we celebrate the transformative power of taking learning and sharing it through creative modes. I firmly believe that this process is valuable for all learners, as it encourages collaboration, growth mindset, and the exploration of literary concepts embedded in literature, musical scores and poetry.
Through the production process, students have the opportunity to work as a team, pooling their talents and skills to create something of value for a wider audience. As they engage in rehearsals, practice, and refining their performance, they witness firsthand how dedication and effort lead to improvement. The principles of growth mindset are instilled as they learn that hard work and perseverance can result in remarkable progress.
For young learners, participating in a production allows them to explore and connect with the poetic elements of literature, song, or musical score. They are immersed in an artistic experience that nurtures their creativity, expression, and interdisciplinary thinking. As they prepare for the final performance, they develop a sense of pride and confidence in sharing their work with the wider community.
Growing up in Norwalk, Connecticut, I was fortunate to experience a community where the performing arts were well-funded and integrated into the schools I attended. I witnessed firsthand the link between the performing arts and the development of essential skills such as time management, discipline, creativity, collaboration, expression, and community building.
On this page, I proudly showcase examples of school productions for young learners. These productions, regardless of their size, serve as pillars of importance for learners of all ages. They provide a platform for students to showcase their talents, build character, and develop a deep appreciation for the arts.
I have also been exploring the power of structuring Units of Study into story narratives that capture the learners attention. I call Units that have been curated with a storyline to make learning memorable and magical- Learning Narrations. They honor the importance of the curricular standards, but craft the learning experiences in a way that allows the learner to authentically enter and participate in a creative story process, ultimately enhancing the learning and engagement experience for learners. The process of planning, narrating and expressing such Narrations of traditional academic units, is a for of production. I have included this work in this section as well.
Join me as I celebrate the transformative power of school productions and their impact on young learners. Explore the examples we have curated, and witness the joy, growth, and community spirit that these productions inspire.
